Job overview

An exciting opportunity awaits a motivated, innovative NMC registered nurse or Allied Healthcare professional registrant. As part of our dynamic Occupational Health (OH) team the post-holder will provide leadership for the development and delivery of an effective Occupational Health service for the staff and managers within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.

The role will involve cross site working but the successful candidate will be based at St Woolos Hospital.

Main duties of the job

Day to day professional and operational responsibility, supporting the Head of Occupational Health to ensure high quality, effective and efficient services. We are looking for a dynamic, adaptable and highly innovative individual with a range of experience at a senior level in leadership, management and clinical practice including OH experience.

The post is multifaceted and is suitable for an agile thinking individual who has the passion to influence and lead the development of the OH service and act as the clinical lead for the OPAS-G2 database to realise its potential. The post-holder will be a visible professional clinical leader with responsibility for the enhancement and modernisation of OH practice and development of clinical staff  to meet the needs of our current and future workforce.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Registered nurse or Allied Health Professional with current professional registration
  • Post registration qualification in occupational health nursing/ equivalent for Allied Health Professional
  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Relevant clinical and management experience
  • Demonstrates up to date knowledge and expertise in the speciality
  • Evidence of ability to work collaboratively/autonomously and manage clinical workload
  • Knowledge of key professional issues and guidelines relating to professional practice
  • Knowledge of relevant guidance, legislation and evidence based practice
  • Knowledge and understanding of strategic, political and social initiatives that impact on service delivery
  • Highly developed specialist knowledge of current developments, change management and service improvement
Desirable criteria
  • Management training/leadership course
  • Possess a relevant health and safety qualification
  • Member of specialist interest groups and networks locally and nationally
  • Research activity that has led to publication

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant post graduate experience
  • Experience of working in an Occupational Health setting
  • Specialist knowledge of Occupational Health and familiar with current legislation regarding Occupational Health and aware of developments in it
  • Experience leading multiple staff/multidisciplinary teams at a management level
  • Understanding of, and ability to develop and use workforce and management information
  • Proven experience of creating opportunities through partnership working
  • Experience of budgetary management and setting
  • • Experience of auditing and monitoring
Desirable criteria
  • Advanced skills in research and audit
  • Experience of leading a MDT case management model
