NNUH is currently the busiest Trauma Unit in the East of England caring for almost 850 trauma patients annually many with complex care needs. We are enhancing our urgent and emergency care specialist services for patients with significant injuries as a result of trauma and have an ambition to become a Major Trauma Centre.

Main duties of the job

All areas of our gynaecology services across the department offer huge scope for your professional development. As a Newly Qualified Nurse you will become fully integrated into the team and will be encouraged to continually develop your skills in all aspects of gynaecology.

Gynaecology incorporates; Inpatient pre and post op care, elective and emergency services, an Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit and Outpatient care services. We treat women across a broad range of specialties including Oncology, Urogynaecology, Benign Gynaecology and Early pregnancy services. Our collaborative team, care for women living in Norfolk and for those accessing specialist treatments from across the Eastern Region.

Although we encourage new staff to work across all areas of Gynaecology, please do let us know within your supporting statement if there is a particular interest in an area you wish to work in.

Your Application:

  • Outpatient services – Gynaecology Outpatient Department (GOPD)
  • 16 bedded inpatient ward - Cley Ward
  • Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit (EPAU)
  • Emergency triage service

Your preceptorship and beyond!

Our Practice Development and Education team will be there to support you during your preceptorship period and beyond. We are proud to offer and support all our Newly Qualified Nurses through a comprehensive Preceptorship scheme for a minimum of 12 months.  

When you start with us, you will be assigned an appropriately trained preceptor/mentor, who will support and work with you throughout your preceptorship.

We have a specialised two week supernumerary induction programme which will take place in September 2024. This gives you an opportunity to meet the Clinical Educators, get to know the hospital, the NNUH team, attend workshops to facilitate your clinical skills and gives you time in your department. Further to this, there are opportunities to complete a transitional learning needs analysis, access to four bespoke sessions for your continuing professional development (CPD) as part of the Preceptorship Academy and you will have access to the clinical Skills programme with bespoke IV drug administration day for newly qualified nurses.
