NNUH is currently the busiest Trauma Unit in the East of England caring for almost 850 trauma patients annually many with complex care needs. We are enhancing our urgent and emergency care specialist services for patients with significant injuries as a result of trauma and have an ambition to become a Major Trauma Centre.

Looking for a new challenge? An opportunity has arisen for an innovative, highly motivated, and experienced Midwife to join our Practice Development and Education Department. Are you dynamic, enthusiastic and have a commitment to education? As the post holder, you will be the departmental lead for pre-registration learner supervision, support and assessment for Midwifery. Furthermore, to be the departmental lead for the co-ordination, management, and expansion of pre-registration Midwifery student placements. Moreover, to lead the recruitment of prospective midwifery registrants into first post qualified positions and the departmental lead for the preceptorship of Midwives.

The role encompasses the leadership and line management to a team of clinical educators who facilitate programmes of learning and support learners in the clinical environment.

Main duties of the job

To be departmental lead for pre-registration learner supervision, support and assessment for Midwifery.

To be departmental lead for the co-ordination, management and expansion of pre-registration Midwifery student placements.

To be the departmental lead for the recruitment of prospective Midwifery registrants into first post qualified (FPQ) positions.

Under the direction of the Practice Development and Education Lead and the Associate Director for Education (Nurses, Midwives and AHPs) to support the development of a competent workforce, to deliver a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, in line with the Workforce and Education Strategy

To optimise the learning environments in clinical practice so learners on clinical programmes/placements have a high quality and effective learning experience, which will in turn benefit the patients’ care experience and care outcomes.

To optimise the effectiveness of clinical teaching/educational programmes and continually innovate, deploying a range of teaching styles and resources including simulation training, and review the effectiveness by conducting research and audits, working in partnership with Approved Educational Institutions (AEI’s) and ICS partners.

To support the effective management of tariff reporting for Midwifery student placements

To provide leadership and line-management to a team of Clinical Educators who facilitate programmes of learning and support learners in the clinical environment.
