Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the maternity team at Harrogate District Foundation trust as a Maternity Patient Flow Co-ordinator.

The role is supportive to the Delivery Suite Coordinator and team leaders and aids the safe and effective care of service users and their families.

 

Main duties of the job

The role will include co-ordinating the maternity operational activity to maintain patient safety and flow through the service, including acute and elective activity.

Ensure safe, efficient and effective service user flow, whilst ensuring optimal bed utilisation and staffing across the maternity service through co-ordination of admission, transfers and discharges.

Act as a senior midwifery lead during ‘out of hours’ periods and provide clinical operational support to onsite maternity staff.

The post holder will ensure effective communication throughout the multidisciplinary team and support a positive safety culture. Excellent current clinical skills, communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role.

Essential

Essential criteria
  • Substantial post qualification experience in all areas of midwifery practice to include shift leading and managing staff
  • “Extended” midwifery skills; IV cannulation, perineal suturing, IV drug administration, CTG interpretation
  • Proven leadership and management skills
  • A good understanding of the management of rosters/ off duty
Desirable criteria
  • Professional Midwifery Advocate
  • Current Delivery Suite co-ordinator or Patient Flow Midwife
  • Awareness of current local/ national initiatives within Maternity services
