Are you a Registered Nurse with experience of working with vulnerable children & young people in the community? Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in Safeguarding and Children in Care?

This post does not require SCPHN qualification, so if you are a qualified nurse with the relevant experience, we encourage you to apply! 

You must have a passion for safeguarding, a good understanding of the vulnerabilities of children in care and innovative approach to engaging hard to reach individuals.  

The successful applicant will hold a caseload of Children and Young People aged 6-19 years who are subject to Safeguarding or are a Child in Care. You will build strong, therapeutic relationships that encourages positive engagement with health services.

This role covers the whole of North Yorkshire and the successful candidate's base with be discussed upon appointment 

You will receive a comprehensive preceptorship package to further develop your skills; ongoing training and support 

 

Main duties of the job

We are an innovative and dynamic team dedicated to promoting the health and wellbeing of young people who are in the Safeguarding and Children in Care arena.  We work closely with colleagues in the Specialist Safeguarding and Children in Care teams as part of the integrated 0-19 service.   The successful candidate will be responsible for the assessment and delivery of patient facing care to children, young people and families. 

The service have developed a blended approach to service delivery with a combination of office and home working options available. There is a robust package of clinical and safeguarding supervision provided to all staff.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As a member of the team you will provide professional leadership and direction to a skill mix team to enable the efficient and effective delivery of the 6-19 Service with Safeguarding and Children in Care. 

You will need excellent communication skills and a passion for public health, alongside good organisational skills, flexibility to meet the needs of the service, and ability to travel independently to meet service delivery as required.  

The applicant will need to demonstrate strong leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to delegate and supervise staff, as well as the ability to recognise and escalate risk and contribute to control measures. 

Experience of working with children and young people with complex health and social needs in the community would be an advantage. 

You must possess a full UK driving license and have access to your own transport in order to meet service needs.

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse or equivalent, educated to degree level or relevant experience
  • Up to date level 3 safeguarding children training
  • Experience of working with vulnerable children / young people
Desirable criteria
  • Experience as a safeguarding children supervisor
  • Experience of working in a community setting
  • SCPHN qualification
