Job overview

Responsible for liaising with Women and Families who have been identified through the Independent review of Maternity Services.

The post holder will be part of the Patient Experience and Engagement team, and work closely with the Maternity Governance Service Quality, Risk and Safety Team and the Independent review team.

In undertaking the duties for this post the post holder must comply with The Code: Professional standards of practice and behaviour for nurses, midwives and nursing associates (NMC).

In undertaking the duties for this post the post holder must comply with the Department of Health’s code of conduct for NHS Managers (October 2002).

Main duties of the job

The post sits within the Patient Experience and Engagement Team, working closely with the maternity and corporate teams. This aspect of the Role will involve working closely with the Independent Nottingham Maternity (Ockenden) Review Team:

  • The post holder will regularly liaise with:
  • Maternity Independent Review Team
  • Maternity and Neonatal senior leadership
  • Staff in Corporate Directorates
  • Chief Executive, Chief Nurse, Medical Director as required
  • External stakeholders e.g. Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Maternity Voices Partnership

Supporting Women and Families identified through the Independent Maternity Review

Coordinate and support Initial (early) meetings with families / women involved identified through the Nottingham Maternity Review to establish a constant (impartial) point of contact and to ascertain what support is required by the woman/family.

Set expectations with the family in terms of processes, timescales, methods of contact, potential outcomes.

Improve women and family understanding of Review processes / responsibilities.

Act as a single point of contact / advocate if necessary:

  • Relaying information
  • Chasing information / responses
  • Explaining information
  • Explaining roles & responsibilities of different staff members

Provide support at meetings, supporting the Chief Executive or Chief Nurse as required, ensuring meetings are prepared and the Executive lead is appropriately briefed.

Oversee correspondence between the women / families and the Trust.

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Current NMC Registration as a Midwife or Nurse
  • Experience working at a senior level in an Acute Trust
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working across organisational and professional boundaries
  • Experience of contributing relevant complaints and service user and engagement information and insight for inspections by external bodies e.g. CQC/ NMC

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience working in acute care areas
  • 5 years post registration experience including management and leadership experience

Communication and Relationship Skills

  • Excellent communications skills, written and oral

Analytical and Judgement Skills
