Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust are looking to recruit a Dynamic Band 7 Clinical Lead to help shape the development and future direction of the Doncaster Adult Liaison Psychiatry Team.

Our developing service is seeking and experienced and autonomous practitioner with demonstrable experience of adult psychiatric liaison care, who will support ongoing development and delivery of high quality care

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Passionate about combining both clinical and leadership skills and have a desire to contribute to change in an energetic service.
  • Inclusive in working with carers, families, and other services in delivering safe and effective care.
  • Safe in making highly skilled evaluations and decisions about treatment options considering theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors that have shaped an individual.
  • Able to provide expert clinical support and advice to team members
  • Skilled in risk assessment, able to formulate risk management plans and able to support other team members in doing so
  • Able to provide clinical supervision for staff team and display the attributes of a compassionate leader
  • Able to provide cover for team manager in times of absence

Main duties of the job

To continually demonstrate advanced clinical skills in practice and provide support and advice re-service development, pathway development and the delivery of care in partnership with service users, carers, staff, managers, other agencies, across a number of teams/geographical areas.

To lead and present complex, sensitive and challenging clinical and professional communication processes that may impact on service users, carers, staff, the team, the organisation, partner agencies and members of the public, where there are barriers to understanding.

Chairs/facilitates complex case reviews/meetings which may involve other agencies or specified organisational/professional forums

To give highly specialist advice to MDT colleagues regarding the care and treatment of service users.

To supervise  clinicians in the team, overseeing caseload management, ensuring quality of interventions, timely responses and regular communication with the MDT to assist case formulation.

The practitioner will provide a modelling role to all staff; ensuring standards of care are met.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • Be a member of a recognised professional body and hold a current professional registration
Desirable criteria
  • • Thorough understanding of the modernisation agenda for mental health

Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Experience of working in liaison psychiatry
  • • Experience of working work across organisational boundaries and being able to develop and maintain multi-professional/agency partnerships.
  • • Highly experienced at delivering treatment interventions.
Desirable criteria
  • • Experience of working in community mental health.
  • • Evidence of strengths-based working.
