Full and Part Time 

We are currently seeking highly motivated and professional, nurses/operating department practitioners to join our established theatre teams within Bassetlaw Teaching Hospital.

Within Bassetlaw Hospital there are 5 busy theatres covering several clinical specialities, including orthopaedic, gastrointestinal, bariatric, ENT, ophthalmology obstetrics and gynaecology, delivering exceptional care for patients who enter theatres through the elective or emergency pathway. 

Main duties of the job

As a Operating Department Practitioner you will be expected to work alongside and communicate with all members of the multidisciplinary team and actively contribute to assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care. You will work as a member of our theatre teams on circulating scrub and/or anaesthetic duties and opportunities will be provided to gain experience and further training in both these areas.  You will be committed to providing a high standard of patient care, demonstrating motivation, enthusiasm and consideration of financial importance.

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience in acute hospital environment
  • Previous experience during training in Theatres
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrate evidence of research based practice
  • Demonstrate evidence of ward/department management under supervision

Qualifications/Training

Essential criteria
  • ODP with HCPC with current registration.
  • Up to date knowledge of professional issues
  • Computer literate
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of attendance at relevant mandatory study days
  • Evidence of specialised qualifications/ competencies in relation to theatre practice

Interpersonal Skills

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills with multi-disciplinary team/client/relatives
  • • Demonstrate caring manner with an understanding of Equality and Diversity in the workplace
  • Demonstrate self motivation and the ability to progress

Organisational Skills

Essential criteria
  • Able to accommodate the demands of the post with flexible working as required and good attendance
  • Precise and methodical in working practice and able to work under own initiative
Desirable criteria
  • Provide evidence of supervision of students/nurses eg preceptorship, education, mentorship
  • Provide evidence of understanding of Clinical Governance/Risk Assessment
