Job overview

Children and Young People’s Mental Health Services in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin have received additional investment to improve the support available. As a result, we are excited to advertise a number of new roles, to welcome clinicians who want to work in Children’s Mental Health Services. Where people are interested in applying but would need to relocate we can support financially. Where people are interested and passionate about working with children but have identified additional training needs, we may be able to train staff to develop the appropriate skills.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit 2 band 7 Mental Health Nurse Practitioner / Non Medical Prescriber (NMP) within our service. We welcome applications from clinicians who are currently completing their NMP training. 

We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated individual who is keen to work within Children's mental health services, a registered/in training non-medical prescriber (NMP), with experience ideally of working within a community setting. As a registered professional, you will be committed to providing a high-quality service and will support to improve service user access to care and treatment.

Main duties of the job

The assessment of need and delivery of safe and effective interventions for children and young people (CYP) and managing complex risks, in accordance with recognised clinical guidance.

Managing and co-ordinating a caseload of CYP with complex mental health needs including prescribing and sharing skills within the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT).

Supporting and providing clinical leadership on the development of the NMP function within the team.

Working as part of the MDT and in an integrated way with wider teams and services to meet the needs of the CYP & Families.

Offering advice, support and supervision to other healthcare professionals including actual and supervisory prescribing.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Qualified and Registered (with appropriate professional body) health professional trained to degree level or equivalent
  • Non Medical Prescriber (V300) or working towards this
Desirable criteria
  • Additional training in therapeutic modality, e.g CBT, Family Therapy, EMDR, Solution Focussed, Motivational Interviewing
  • Appropriate training / qualification in supervision

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of providing care and support to children and young people
  • Experience of assessing and managing complex needs including risk
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in CAMHS
  • Experience of teaching, training, or supervising
