Staff Nurse

NHS AfC: Band 5

Job overview

The Edward Myers Unit (EMU) is currently a 12 bedded specialist inpatient service, delivering drug and alcohol detoxification and treatment. It is part of North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust (NSCHT) Specialist Directorate and is one of only 6 NHS Trusts across the country, who deliver medically managed inpatient treatment within the NHS.

We take referrals countrywide and we enjoy an excellent reputation both locally and nationally including transfers from Royal Stoke University Hospital and the West Midlands Ambulance Service.

Due to planned service expansion, we are currently seeking several experienced, highly motivated, dynamic Staff Nurses who have a passion for working within this specialist arena to help drive our services forward and develop a nurse led system of care. Nursing experience in the Substance misuse field preferable. These posts are currently under review and may be supported as developmental posts to a Band 6 post within the unit.

Unfortunately, these posts are not suitable for newly qualified nurses.

You will be challenged both clinically and psychologically by a complex client group in this rewarding role. Substance Misuse pervades many aspects of mental health services, having an impact on patient’s physical, psychological and social networks. Our client group are complex in nature and require a variety of interventions and treatments making these positions suitable for enthusiastic RGN’s and RMN’s.
