Division:   Surgical                      

Job Title:  CNS - Acute Pain, secondment 12 months            

Band:       AfC: band 6 or 7 depending on experience                           

Location: Royal Stoke Hospital              

Hours of Duty: 37.5 hrs                      

Managerially accountable to:   ANP/Lead Nurse - Acute Pain  

Professionally accountable to: Associate Chief Nurse Surgery     

Key Relationships: Acute Pain Team, Anaesthetists, Theatres, Surgical MDT

Directorate Management Team,  Medical and Nursing staff, Allied Health Professionals 


The Royal Stoke Hospital is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and inspirational Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Acute Pain Team within the Surgical Division.

This is a very exciting opportunity for someone with a high level of experience who is looking to work in a very dynamic, forward thinking directorate. As a CNS in Acute Pain you will work alongside our existing Acute Pain Team in the day to day management of patients requiring specialist, high quality acute pain management.

The successful applicant will have relevant training and clinical experience working both as an autonomous practitioner and looking to develop skills in health assessment, prescribing, investigations analysis and pain management. You will have leadership experience, demonstrate excellent communication skills and be able to evidence your continuing professional development. We are looking for a committed team player who has high standards and is passionate about improving the patient experience. The role will involve working closely with the Acute Pain Leads, Anaesthetists and surgical MDTs. The successful applicant will be able to work on their own initiative, plan and deliver projects and deliver education to other staff.

Existing Band 5 or 6 staff may also be considered and be supported with the development of appropriate skills to fulfil this position and this post may be a band 6 or 7 post dependant on experience/skills.
