Bank Healthcare Support Worker vacancies

 We are looking for experienced Healthcare Support Workers to register with our temporary staffing - Bank on Us service. You must have at least six months continuous, recent experience employed as a Health Care Support Worker in the UK in an appropriate care setting and have excellent communication and IT skills as well as a compassionate nature and a desire to provide high standards of care to our patients.

 There are a variety of hours and shifts available across the different Trust sites and departments. and we are particularly keen to hear from people who are interested in working day shifts. Although most shifts would be on the St Peter’s site and as a Bank only contract the Trust has no obligation to offer regular hours.

 Once you have completed the Bank Pre-Registration process you will be booked to attend the Trust's Induction Programme which is 10 days. This commitment is required to support and enhance your current skills and knowledge.

 Successful applicants ideally would have obtained the National Care Certificate or will need to achieve this within six months of joining to remain on the register.

Main duties of the job

Our Healthcare Support Workers are at the heart of providing direct patient centred care, supporting the Registered Nurses and Nursing Associates as well as the wider Multi-Disciplinary Teams.

The role is varied, equally challenging and rewarding, where you will have the opportunity to really make a difference to the experience of our patients. This could be by supporting patients in their rehabilitation and recovery following an operation or a period of acute illness, caring for patients upon admission to hospital in a fast-paced environment supporting the medical and nursing teams or providing holistic and compassionate care for our more vulnerable patients or those at the end of their life.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Working as a Bank Healthcare Support Worker in a variety of wards / departments within the hospital setting.

Carry out assigned tasks involved with direct patient care whilst maintaining the privacy and dignity of patients.  This will be whilst demonstrating excellent care, compassion and communication, and in support of and supervised by a Registered Nurse or Nursing Associate, incorporating:

  • Continence Management
  • Nutrition & Hydration
  • Undertaking and recording of Vital Signs
  • Moving & Handling of patients to support independence
  • Infection Prevention and Control
  • Safeguarding of adults and children.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Please provide a summary to demonstrate any qualifications or evidence you have which include having a functional level of English and Maths. Please also confirm if you have already achieved the Care certificate in an Acute Trust setting, please note if not already achieved this would need to be obtain within six months of joining bank.

Experience

  • Please provide a summary to demonstrate you have a minimum of six months, recent employment as a health care support within a relevant care setting in the UK.

Knowledge
