NHS AfC: Band 6

Would you like to work in an organisation that sits in the top 10 best NHS Mental Health, Learning Disability and Community Services Trust  to work for.  This ranking is based on staff feedback in the 2023 NHS Staff Survey.

Job overview

Surrey and Borders Forensic Outreach and Liaison Service is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic community mental health nurse to join the team.

The successful applicant will be part of the multi-disciplinary team delivering comprehensive assessments and a range of approaches, interventions and treatments to people experiencing severe and enduring mental health problems with the aim of supporting them with their personal recovery.  The successful candidate will provide specialist assessment and treatment for people with mental disorder, who have
offended or are at risk of offending.  Our service is provided both within criminal justice settings and the local community.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to hold lead and professional responsibility for a number of service users. This reflects a need to demonstrate excellent communication skills and be able to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team. You will be committed to the delivery of a high-quality service, working both independently and as part of a well-established, innovative and recovery-focused team in meeting the needs of service users and their carers.

In addition to holding a caseload, the successful applicant will be offering forensic assessments to clients referred to the service. There are various training opportunities to build skills in the delivery of low intensity psychological interventions and specialist forensic assessments.

Working for our organisation

Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is the leading provider of health and social care services for people of all ages with mental ill-health and learning disabilities in Surrey and North East Hampshire. We also provide social care services for people with a learning disability in Croydon and ASD and ADHD assessment services in Hampshire.

We actively seek to engage people who use our services and our communities in improving the mental wellbeing of the local population. We work closely with other NHS and voluntary sector organisations who provide services and support people who use services and carers.

Surrey is a beautiful county lying just 30 minutes away from Central London and from the South Coast.

Our historic market towns and bustling districts are enveloped in wonderful countryside, and our excellent road and rail networks bring the rest of the country within easy reach.

For international travel, both Gatwick and Heathrow airports are nearby.

Please note that we reserve the right to close posts as soon as sufficient applications are received.

Working from home contracts do not attract high cost area payments.

We look forward to receiving your application!
