Paediatric Advanced Specialist Practitioner - Diabetes and Obesity

Band 7

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced paediatric nurse to become part of a multi-disciplinary team in caring for children and young people with complications of excessive weight (CEW) and Diabetes conditions.

The service is part of a national pilot and works closely with Southampton Hospital and the wider SE CEW Network. The specialist practitioner will work closely with the MDT and be responsible for managing children and young people with conditions including: Obesity and Diabetes.

The Paediatric Advanced Specialist Practitioner will be a knowledgeable and experienced member of the team who is able to work autonomously, making decisions to treat and manage the needs of the children and young people.

The dual role will manage all aspects of education, research and service development but the main focus will be clinical work and direct patient care of children and young people with specialist Diabetes and obesity needs. A previous background in Diabetes and obesity is not essential as we will consider a training post.

The successful applicant will be provided with education and support to develop their clinical expertise and knowledge regarding all aspects of the service via internal and external training.
