Job overview
As part of an expanding Adult Eating Disorders Service (AEDS) due to recent transformation and development, we are delighted to be able to appoint a dynamic Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to join our Adult Eating Disorders Service in the Community Outpatients. This is a substantive post 1.0 WTE basis. We also welcome expressions of interest from those interested in part time hours (minimum of 0.6 WTE). The post holder will be based at our main service hub at Farnham Road Hospital, Guildford.
The post holder will be joining what are well-established Community Outpatient facility for working age adults with moderate to severe eating disorders, with close links to our Day Care provision.
The successful applicant will become an integral member of the Adult Eating Disorders Outpatient team and will provide specialist intensive treatment for adults (18 years +) with moderate to severe eating disorders and co-existing mental health needs. The main responsibilities of the post holder will include contributing to assessments, keywork provision, MDT meetings, handovers, physical health monitoring, risk management, care planning, group co-facilitation, and audit.
Main duties of the job
While experience of working with people with eating disorders is desirable, we are primarily seeking RMNs with a keen interest in working in the field and a willingness to develop specialist knowledge of eating disorders and their treatment. As such, mentoring, additional supervision and Eating Disorders specific training will be provided to facilitate the post holders’ transition and skills development where needed.
Depending on experience, we have the flexibility to offer this role as a substantive Band 6 post or as Band 5 to 6 development post. If the latter, then the successful applicant would begin on Band 5 with a view to progressing to specialist Band 6 posts within 12 – 24 months.

Qualifications required
Essential criteria
- Band 5 – 1 years’ experience working with people with mental health (can be pre- qualification) and definite knowledge of eating disorders.
- Band 6 – 18 months -2 year’s post qualification experience of working with adults with moderate to severe eating disorder difficulties in inpatient ( Day Care) or community setting.
- Band 6 - Mentor Preparation or Teaching and Assessing in Clinical Practice
Desirable criteria
- Experience of eating disorder or mental health advantageous

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
