Job overview

We are currently recruiting to our Trust Temporary Staffing Team - Bank on Us and we are seeking Registered Nurses with a valid NMC registration that have been qualified for at least 6 months with acute hospital nursing experience. You must work well in a team and be reliable and enthusiastic with excellent communication skills, as well as adaptable and flexible to changing situations, working within Trust policies and the NMC Code of Conduct.

We have bank shifts in areas such as at St Peters Hospital:

  • Urgent and Emergency care
  • Inpatient medical, surgical, orthopaedic and care of the elderly wards
  • Intensive Care Unit with a combination of Intensive care beds and HDU beds

Ashford Hospital facilities include:

  • Day Surgery Unit
  • Elective Orthopaedic and Surgical Units
  • Medical ward care of the elderly

The Trust also has clinical services in the following area where we also have bank shifts available:

Woking Community Hospital Bradley Unit (Stroke and Neuro Rehab)

Bank on Us Hourly Pay Rates - depending on experience rate includes high cost area payment and WTD payment

Once you have completed the Bank Pre-Registration process you will be booked to attend the Trust's Induction Programme. This commitment is required to support and enhance your current skills and knowledge.

Main duties of the job

Undertaking shifts as a Bank Registered Nurse on a temporary basis in a ward / department within the hospital setting.

Working effectively and efficiently and in collaboration with the multi professional teams to deliver high quality and individualised patient care.

Be responsible to the nurse in charge or where appropriate act as shift leader, delivering direct patient care as assigned and supporting junior colleagues

The role is varied, equally challenging and rewarding, where you will have the opportunity to really make a difference to the experience of our patients. Whether this is supporting patients in their rehabilitation and recovery following an operation or a period of acute illness, or providing holistic and compassionate care for patients at the end of life.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Working as a Bank Registered Nurse in a variety of wards / departments within the hospital setting.

Carry out assigned tasks involved with direct patient care whilst maintaining the privacy and dignity of patients. This will be whilst demonstrating excellent care, compassion and communication, working alongside the multidisciplinary team, incorporating:

  • Delivering high quality direct patient care.
  • Following patient admission/transfer/discharge processes.
  • Medication administration.
  • Care planning and evaluation.
  • Wound management.
  • Accountable to nurse in charge of each shift and supporting junior colleagues.
