Job overview

We have a unique opportunity in Northumberland Children and Young Peoples Service (CYPS) for an experienced mental health or learning disabilities nurse to work in our ADHD review clinic for a 6 month period. 

The role will involve carrying our reviews of children and young people who are prescribed ADHD medication, to monitor their ADHD symptoms and response to medication. You do not require an NMP qualification to carry out this role and will be supported by the rest of the team.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Professional Qualification and current Professional Registration as, a First Level Registered Nurse (RNMH, RMN, RNLD) or equivalent as an AHP, Social Worker or Clinical Psychologist
  • Mentor Training.
  • Evidence of post-registration training in clinical/ psychological interventions / skills relevant to the post.
  • Proven track record of post registration clinical experience relevant to the post.
  • Training in CPA (Care Programme Approach), Safeguarding, MAPPA (Multi Agency Panel for the Protection of Vulnerable Adults) and Child Protection.
  • Up-to-date knowledge/experience of relevant legislation.
Desirable criteria
  • Non medical prescribing

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Clinical experience relevant to post
  • 12 to 24 month band 5 qualified nurse experience dependent upon service need.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience carrying out ADHD reviews

Skills and knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of ADHD medication, side effects and contra indications
  • Knowledge of ADHD symptomology and co-existing conditions
  • Knowledge of behavioural strategies for ADHD management
