Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Lung cancer team. We are seeking a highly motivated forward thinking senior lung cancer nurse to manage a busy developing service. We would  be keen also to hear from experienced B6 that want to develop to the B7 position.

The ideal candidate should be a team focused member of staff who enjoys providing excellent patient care to both inpatient and outpatients within the service . 

You must have excellent communication skills , empathetic and approachable to the wider team , patients and their families.

Main duties of the job

Your Key responsibility is to provide and develop excellent clinical care and holistic support to patients and those affected by lung cancer at all stages of their cancer pathway from referral through to the process of investigation to treatment and beyond.

You will lead the lung cancer nursing team and develop evidence based clinical nursing practice in line with current research and national guidelines. Together with the clinical lead for lung cancer and the wider MDT you will optimise patient pathways and consider innovative approaches to patient care aimed at improving the patient experience,

Along with your lung cancer nurse colleagues you will manage your own caseload, you will arrange investigations, review and communicate results.

You will understand the local support networks for cancer patients and make onward referrals as appropriate.

In your role you will ensure you put the patient and those affected by cancer at the centre of their care.

You will work with colleagues and patients to optimise patient pathways and consider innovative approaches to patient care , improving the patient experience and outcomes.
