Aneurin Bevan Health Board is responsible for the delivery of health care services to more then 600,000 people living in the Gwent area. We are also responsible in partnership for improving the health and well being of local people.
We deliver our services to the populations of Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, Newport and Torfaen. We have three major acute hospitals and eighteen community hospitals in the area. There is also a range of specialist health centres, local clinics and primary care facilities providing medical, dental, pharmacy and optometric services along with facilities providing mental health and learning disability services.
More than one thousand hospital and general practitioner doctors and six thousand nurses, allied health professionals and community based staff deliver services to our local communities.
The Health Board came into being on the 1st October 2009 and replaces the former Gwent Healthcare NHS Trust and Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, Newport and Torfaen Local Health Boards.
