Description

NHS Camden is the operating name for Camden Primary Care Trust (PCT). We are the local NHS organisation responsible for providing healthcare for people who live in Camden. We serve a population of about 220,000 people and this year we have a budget of £448 million to spend on local healthcare. This money will be used to commission or pay for services from a wide range of health providers, including GPs, dentists, opticians and community pharmacies, acute trusts and mental health trusts.

We are also responsible for supporting the local population of Camden to maximise health by promoting healthy lifestyles for example through services like the stop smoking service and sensible drinking service.

NHS Camden has recently undergone an internal restructure resulting in the separation of the commissioning and provider functions of the organisation. The provider arm of the organisation, Camden PCT Provider Services, includes services such as sexual health services, rehabilitation and disabilities services and children’s services. It was awarded Autonomous Provider Organisation status by NHS London in June 2008.
