Staff Nurse - Chemotherapy Day Case and Oncology O/P

We currently have a vacancy for an experienced, registered practitioner, to become part of the team within Oncology Outpatients & Chemotherapy Day Case Unit, within the Oncology & Blood Services Directorate, Derriford Hospital. Flexible shift patterns are worked.

Applicants should have worked for at least two years as a Band 5, ideally with some Oncology experience.  Venepuncture & cannulation skills are an advantage.  Within the unit,  nurse/practitioners will co-ordinate outpatient clinics, administer chemotherapy, and provide support to patients & relatives/carers on a day to day basis. 

An induction period for new staff is provided; training & ongoing study days/sessions will be available.

Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS at Risk staff throughout Devon who is able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.

Venepuncture & cannulation 

Will run nurse/practitioner led injection/supportive med's clinic

Nurses/practitioner will co-ordinate outpatient clinics

Administer chemotherapy, and provide support to patients & relatives/carers on a day to day basis. 

Responsible for co-ordinating and delivering a high standard of effective specialist nursing/practitioner care following a patient centred model of practice and ensuring area of work runs smoothly and efficiently.

To provide clinical expertise and work as part of a multidisciplinary team. 

Supervision, education and direction of junior staff, healthcare assistants and learners. 

Work independently/autonomously without direct supervision, having freedom to act whilst being accountable for own professional action

  • Diploma qualification in a healthcare related subject or equivalent demonstrable experience
