We are looking to recruit into the stoma care team.

Band 6 Nurse to join the team to support ostomates and their carers and relatives living with a stoma in the East Kent area.

To proactively work within the team to deliver a clinical service (that for this position is hospital based), to all ostomates throughout their journey, including the pre assessment and in patient phase alongside the emergency pathway.

To work with and as part of the multi disciplinary team to enable patients to live independently and well with an ostomy.

This is a rewarding and supportive role and there is the opportunity for training and support within the role to enable you to provide the full spectrum of specialist knowledge to ostomates in East Kent.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

Providing in patient daily support for education and training around becoming self caring with a new stoma so that successful discharge can be achieved in a timely manner.

To participate in provision of hospital clinics to review and support new ostomates on post operative pathway and also established ostomates who may have problems and complications.

To be involved in education and training of staff and carers to raise awareness of stoma care within the trust. To support student nurses and provide link nurse training and updates.

To use excellent communication skills to be a central part of a patients journey with an ostomy to enhance their care.

To be a point of specialist knowledge to help manage stoma complications and the challenges that brings individuals using specialist and surgical knowledge regarding wounds and peristomal skin health.
