Health Transportation Group UK (HTG-UK) was founded in 1989 and originally operated as Thames Ambulance Service. The company has launched nine major Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service (NEPTS) contracts in the last seven years, including contracts in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, and Norfolk and Waveney in 2024, and Suffolk and North East Essex in April 2026. We provide specialist patient transport services for patients with a wide range of needs, including those with reduced mobility, wheelchair users, stretcher patients, patients requiring High Dependency Unit support, and individuals with bariatric requirements. The company supports patients attending services such as renal treatment, oncology appointments, outpatient clinics, and hospital discharges. In 2025, HTG-UK completed approximately 590,000 patient journeys and anticipates completing around 760,000 journeys in 2026. The organisation employs more than 1,000 colleagues across the UK and is one of the country's largest private ambulance providers.

Our HTG-UK family grew in 2024 when we acquired Therapeutic Response, a market leader with expert clinical oversight in delivering therapeutic, least restrictive care to patients. Therapeutic Response started as a family-run business when its clinical founders recognised the need for a trauma-informed, evidence-based approach to mental health transport. To our knowledge, Therapeutic Response is the first and only of this kind in the UK. It is not just a transport service; it is a specialist mental health service on wheels. Under the strategic leadership of founding owner Dr Laura Lovatt, Clinical Psychologist, we continue to progress this mission.  Our compassionate approach allows 96% of secure MH patients to travel to and from the hospital without any need for involuntary restraint.
