We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader who is seeking an Inpatient Quality Matron role here within the Network.

Main duties of the job

The inpatient units are designed to meet the holistic needs of service users/patients and carers, in a working environment conducive to staff development and wellbeing. The post holder supports the delivery of the inpatient hospital model providing leadership to professional and direct care staff, ensuring the availability of appropriate administrative support services in their wards to release clinical time to care. The post holder will be expected to cover a shift pattern 7/7 throughout 24hours with their colleagues providing leadership and clinical expertise to the capacity and flow, inpatient wards and advice to external agencies as required.

Matrons will provide a visible, accessible and authoritative presence on wards, to whom patients and their families can turn for assistance, advice and support

Matrons must be clinically up to date and creditable/have clinical skills expecting others to perform and passionate about driving up clinical and professional standards.  Lead on quality agenda within clinical environment

Education/ Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of CPD and study at higher level
  • Degree or demonstrable evidence of study at higher level

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Sound understanding of contemporary Mental Health agenda and clinical skills
  • Understanding of local and national policies that influence and support mental health inpatient services.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Management role within a multi-disciplinary service at a senior level
  • Ability to analyse and resolve management problems
  • Inpatient experience and / or significant leadership experience at Band 7 and above
  • Experience of supervision and appraisal systems
  • Substantial clinical experience with progressive career/management development

Skills and Abilities

  • Leadership skills.
  • Excellent communicator with an ability to communicate with all staff at all levels of the organisation - A positive attitude to organisational change - Commitment to on-going personal development - Enthusiasm and the ability to work as part of a management team - This post requires satisfactory completion of an Enhanced CRB Disclosure
