Job overview
We are currently seeking a dedicated Matron for the Access & Urgent Care team within Fylde Coast LSCFT. This pivotal role focuses on enhancing the quality of care for our service users, improving the effectiveness of care pathways, and strengthening governance across the care group. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Service Manager, Team Manager and the wider MDT team to elevate clinical skills and practices.
As we embark on our quality improvement journey, we are looking for a dynamic leader to ensure rigorous oversight and assurance, with a keen focus on improving patient experience. This role demands a strong influencer capable of implementing quality improvements to boost patient safety, embedding the governance structure, and supporting the team in delivering and maintaining these enhancements.

Main duties of the job

Demonstrating 'professional curiosity' through positive leadership, the Matron will support clinical decision-making and enhance patient safety.

Qualifications / Education
Essential criteria
- RMN
- Masters Degree or Professional knowledge acquired through degree supplemented by post graduate diploma specialist training, experience, short courses plus further specialist training (equivalent to masters level).
- V300 Non-Medical Prescribing or a willingness to undertake training on entering the post.
Work Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant post qualifying experience with people with mental illness and experience in a management role.
- Work in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Team management / leadership experience.
Skills & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of Mental Health Act and relevant legislation.
- National Mental Health Policy.
- Different approaches to improving mental health.
- Supervision/Caseload management skills.
- Ability to perceive services and service delivery from a user and carer perspective.
