Job overview
The Emergency Medicine Division is a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same! We are looking for highly motivated and adaptable team members who are enthusiastic about providing the best care for our patients whilst they are at their most vulnerable.
Understandably the Emergency Medicine Division is incredibly busy with high patient turnover therefore you need to be confident in your delivery of care whilst ensuring that you help to maintain the privacy and dignity of our patients.
You will be working alongside our friendly and professional team either in the Emergency Department, Emergency Assessment Unit or Acute Admissions Unit to ensure patient safety and care of patients.

Main duties of the job
As a Healthcare Support Worker you will be an essential part of the nursing team. You will do a fantastic job providing care and support to our patients and their families.
You will need to be the kind of person who puts their patients first, providing the best care for every patient, every day.
You will provide hands on personal care for your patients whilst encouraging them to be as independent as possible.

Once you have experience in the role, if you are looking to progress we have fantastic opportunities within the Trust for you to complete a Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship or to go on to complete the Nursing Associate program. These opportunities are fully supported and financed by the Trust. Please ask us for more information if you are interested.
We are recruiting for full time positions covering a 24 hour, 7 day a week shift pattern (rotational shifts, with enhanced pay for weekends and nights).
Full-time posts involve working 3 long days/nights per week with 1 week in 4 working a 4 day week. Part-time posts involve working 2 long days/nights per week.
Shifts are 12.5 hours long (this includes an hour allocated for breaks). Shifts start at 7:15am - 7:45pm or 7:15pm - 7:45am. Shifts will cover 7 days per week, days, nights and Bank Holidays.
We cannot accommodate set shift patterns, day or night only shifts. If you are unable to commit to the working pattern, as detailed above, we would suggest that you apply to join NHS Professionals.

You will be required to complete the ‘Care Certificate’ qualification as part of your on-going training. The Care Certificate is an agreed set of standards that define the knowledge, skills and behaviours expected of specific job roles in the health and social care sectors. The qualification is made up of the 15 minimum standards that should be covered if you are 'new to care' and will form part of a robust induction programme.

Essential criteria
- Good general education.
- Good standard of written and spoken English.
- Willingness to undertake The Care Certificate, Skills for Care & Skills for Health.
Desirable criteria
- NVQ Level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
- English GCSE A*-C, 4-9 or Functional skills level 2.
- Maths GCSE A*-C, 4-9 or Functional skills level 2.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Understands the role of a Healthcare Assistant.
Desirable criteria
- Previous training in First Aid.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Broad general experience.
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of health setting an advantage.
