Urgent & Emergency Care Service Manager

Band 8b

West London NHS Trust  provides a full range of mental health, community  and physical healthcare services for children, adults and older people living in the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow.

We also provide some specialist services that are commissioned regionally, such as our medium secure services; and nationally, such as the Cassel Hospital for people with complex and severe personality disorder and our high secure services at Broadmoor Hospital.

Job overview

We are seeking an experienced, driven and visionary leader to join West London NHS Trust as our Urgent and Emergency Care Service Manager for Ealing Crisis, Assessment and Home Treatment Service, Liaison Psychiatry Services, Horizon decant ward, Crisis Recovery House and Alternative to Admission Services. This is a key Band 8b leadership role offering the opportunity to shape, develop and oversee services that sit at the very heart of crisis care in the borough.

You will be responsible for the operational leadership of some of our most vital services, ensuring safe, high-quality and compassionate care for people in crisis. If you are passionate about system-wide transformation, have proven operational leadership in mental health, and thrive in complex and dynamic environments, this is an outstanding opportunity to make a real difference.

Main duties of the job

As Service Manager you will hold responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and operational delivery of the Ealing Crisis and Home Treatment Team, the Liaison Psychiatry Service, the West London Crisis Recovery House, Ealing Safe Space, and Horizon Ward, which is maintained as part of the Trust’s business continuity planning.

You will ensure the Crisis and Home Treatment Team and Liaison Psychiatry Service works closely with community services and inpatient wards to support safe and effective patient flow, reducing length of stay and aligning services with NHS Long Term Plan requirements. You will lead on embedding Core Fidelity Standards across Ealing and the wider tri-borough crisis pathways, driving forward accreditation and transformation work.

At the Recovery House, you will take the lead in contract monitoring, performance oversight, and ensuring strong joint working between clinical services and third-sector providers to maximise patient outcomes. You will also act as the operational link for Ealing Safe Space, ensuring it continues to offer alternatives to admission and accessible crisis support.

As part of your responsibilities for Horizon Ward, you will oversee all compliance, readiness, and mobilisation planning, ensuring the ward is safe, secure and fully functional should it need to be activated.
