The Role

The School of Health and Care delivers an extensive range of undergraduate and post graduate courses for professionals working in health and care settings inclusive of nursing, midwifery, occupational therapy, dietetics, paramedic science, operating department practitioners, diagnostic radiography, podiatry, clinical psychology and public health. 

As Assistant Professor (Teaching) in Post Registration MSc Nursing Team you will undertake teaching and course co-ordination while supporting the development and delivery of undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional programs and other core activities ensuring students have an effective learning experience.

Assistant Professors (Teaching) lead on aspects of the student learning experience including the leadership of staff teams.

You will work with and lead other academic colleagues to enrich the student learning and teaching experience to ensure, as appropriate, relevant aspects of research, enterprise and professional context are embedded in modules and courses.

Duties include:

•    Leading the curation, adaptation, design and development of Post Registration MSc Nursing modules, course teaching materials (online and on campus), assessment and feedback tasks in alignment with Group and School quality assurance processes 
•    Providing a coaching and mentorship approach to both students and academic colleagues
•    Upholding high standards of academic integrity in all aspects of teaching, learning and assessment.

Qualifications Required

•    Master’s degree in an appropriate subject OR (if from a professional practice background) a good Honors Degree and an appropriate professional qualification and/or membership
•    A teaching qualification or extensive experience of delivering professional and/or university education
•    PhD or active membership of an appropriate professional body would be advantageous


Our Successful Candidate

You will have demonstrable experience of successful teaching at higher education levels 4-7 in Nursing with the development and demonstration of best practice in teaching, learning and assessment consistent with our reputation and track record as a high-quality provider of teaching and learning.

An experienced team leader with good level of digital fluency, you will have experience using creating teaching materials for face to face and online teaching using a VLE.

Enthusiastic and self-motivated, you will have experience in the development and enhancement of an ‘active learning’ pedagogy as appropriate to the academic subject area.

As a global education provider, high levels of cultural awareness with experience of learner’s cultural differences and expectations with the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds is essential.

Innovation and collaboration are key to our success, therefore the ability to generate and follow through innovative ideas, work both independently and part of a wider team with the willingness to engage in flexible ways of working are key skills required for this role.
