Job overview

Clinic Based Services are looking to employ a motivated and enthusiastic Specialist Nurse to join the Adult Community Respiratory Service.

The post holder will provide specialist-respiratory contribution to the clinical management and education of patients with COPD; working in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams and colleagues in both hospital and community setting.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

To participate in the ongoing development and evaluation of a service model designed to offer an alternative to hospitalisation or earlier discharge for patients with acute exacerbation of COPD.

To take shared responsibility for the assessment, planning and evaluation of care for patients who have complex respiratory problems. Support the medical management of this patient group, along with the provision of education and support to other health professionals, families and carers. To contribute to the development of the community respiratory services and promote an innovative approach to pulmonary rehabilitation. The role will also involve CPD, clinical audit and research and development and healthy lifestyles where possible.

The successful candidate will have First Level NMC Registration, be educated to or working towards degree level with evidence of Continuing Professional Development. A competent clinical practitioner with sound knowledge of relevant respiratory conditions, with an understanding of all aspects of Clinical Governance, including quality issues, audit and risk management.
