Are you an experienced Endoscopy Nurse seeking a new challenge in a collaborative and innovative environment?
At Hammersmith Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, we are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 Junior Sister / Charge Nurse to join our friendly team and play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred endoscopy services. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your clinical leadership, education, and management skills within one of London’s leading teaching hospitals.
You will be part of a dynamic team committed to excellence, research, and innovation in endoscopy care. You will lead by example, support junior staff, and ensure the highest standards of safety and quality. You’ll also work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver efficient and patient-focused services across our sites.
Main duties of the job
- Deliver safe, effective and compassionate care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.
- Lead and assist the endoscopist and multidisciplinary team during procedures including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, EUS, ERCP and bronchoscopy.
- Monitor, assess and evaluate patients with before during, and after procedures.
- Support junior staff, students and new team members by sharing knowledge and promoting a positive learning environment.
- Participate in audits, training and continuous improvements activities within JAG -accredited Endoscopy Unit.
- Conduct Personal Development Reviews (PDRs), competency, assessment and ongoing performance feedback for junior staff.
- Manage staff sickness, attendance, and performance in line with Trust policies.
- Contribute to e-Rostering and workforce planning to maintain safe staffing levels across all shifts.
- Safely manage and troubleshoot endoscopy equipment, report and escalate faults promptly.

Education/ Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse (Adult)- NMC registration
- Evidence of professional development relevant to Endoscopy or Gastroenterology
- Evidence of ongoing clinical competence and continued professional development
Desirable criteria
- Endoscopy Course / Gastroenterology qualification or equivalent
- Mentorship /Practice Assessor qualification or equivalent teaching and assessing course.
- Leadership or management related training or qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Proven clinical experience in an Endoscopy Unit or relevant area of practice.
- Experience in assisting or managing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures such as ERCP, EUS and Bronchoscopy.
- Experience in supervising or supporting junior staff and students in clinical practice.
- Experience in maintaining infection control, decontamination and safety standards in a procedural environment.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of coordinating a shift or taking charge of an endoscopy list.
- Experience in service development, audit or JAG accreditation processes.
- Involvement in patient safety and quality improvement initiatives.
- Previous experience in a leadership or deputy role
- Experience in managing staff sickness, e-rostering and managing performance.
Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities
Essential criteria
- Excellent clinical assessment, decision- making and problem-solving skills.
- Competent in the safe administration and monitoring of conscious sedation.
- Sound knowledge of Endoscopy Procedures, equipment handling and decontamination processes.
- Effective communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload, delegate appropriately and work under pressure
- Knowledge of clinical governance, risk management and safeguarding principles.
- IT literacy including use of emails and Microsoft packages
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of JAG accreditation standards and endoscopy pathway management.
- Skills in audit, research or data analysis for service improvement.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
