Job overview
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our friendly and dynamic Endoscopy team at Hammersmith Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. You will play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality, and person-centred care to patients undergoing a range of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop specialist skills in areas such as gastroscopy, colonoscopy, EUS, ERCP, and bronchoscopy, supported by a skilled multidisciplinary team. You will receive full training and mentorship to enhance your confidence and competence within our JAG-accredited Endoscopy Unit

Main duties of the job
- As a Band 5 Staff Nurse in the Endoscopy Unit, you will provide high-quality, safe, and compassionate care to patients undergoing a range of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting the delivery of procedures such as gastroscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP, EUS and bronchoscopy.
- Your duties will include preparing procedure rooms and equipment, assisting during procedures, monitoring patients pre- and post-procedure, and ensuring safe and effective recovery and discharge.
- You will be responsible for the accurate assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, ensuring compliance with infection prevention, safety, and clinical governance standards.
- You will contribute to service improvement and uphold the Trust’s values by promoting dignity, respect, and patient-centred care at all times.
- The role also involves supporting health care assistant staff, participating in audit and training, and maintaining continuous professional development to enhance your endoscopy knowledge and clinical skills.

Essential criteria
- Active NMC pin as a 1st level Registered Nurse
- Level 2 numeracy and literacy
Desirable criteria
- Mentorship or Teaching qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of caring for sick patients in a variety of settings. This can be whilst a student
- At least one year experience in Endoscopy
- IV/Oral drugs administration competent
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience in ERCP, EUS
- Pre-operative assessment experience
