Senior Support Worker

The Senior Support Worker is responsible for providing support and leadership and supervision to a team of Support Workers, in addition to providing practical help, care and support to the tenants. They ensure that the care delivered is focused on the principles of supported living and a person centered approach. They will provide comprehensive support and practical help to adults with a learning disability. The post holder will offer support without direct supervision on a rotational shift basis including working public holidays, weekends, nights and other unsocial hours. They will routinely take the lead on both individual shifts and tenants holidays. The direct support offered to tenants includes providing personal care, emotional support, developing social and leisure interests, maintaining health and making healthy choices, assisting with taking of medications, accessing community facilities and supporting the tenants to maintain their home. The Senior Support Worker will supervise Support Workers; take an active part in inductions and supervision of Junior Staff, acting as a mentor and job coach to new staff.

· To work closely with the senior team to support and promote the principles of Citizenship and inclusion, ensuring safe staffing and planning of service provision.
· To Co-ordinate and undertake direct care of tenants living within the service, always ensuring continuity of care, including managing medication and finances.
· To Co-ordinate staff support to enable tenants to live a and fulfilled life
· To ensure the Health and Safety of the tenant at all times, both within the home and accessing the local community.

We also provide specialist inpatient services in York and some highly specialised services across the country.
