Band 7

Trosolwg o'r swydd

At West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (WHTHT), we are proud to deliver high-quality, compassionate emergency and urgent care to our local community.

From May 2026, WHTHT will deliver urgent care services as part of our strategic service development. To support this transition, we are investing in the growth of our Advanced Practice workforce across urgent and emergency care.

We are seeking to recruit Trainee Advanced Practitioners to join the Emergency Department. These roles are open to experienced clinicians and will play a key part in supporting nursing and medical teams, contributing to safe, effective and patient-centred care.

You will undertake a Master’s degree in Advanced Practice at an NHSE-accredited university and be supported to develop capabilities across the four pillars of advanced practice: clinical practice, leadership and management, education, and research. As a training post, the minimum contracted hours are 30 per week.

The Trainee Advanced Practitioner will assess, diagnose, and manage patients presenting to the Urgent Care and Emergency Department under appropriate supervision.

You will support patient flow by delivering timely, safe, and effective care from initial assessment through to admission or discharge. You will work collaboratively with nursing, medical, and multidisciplinary teams, providing clinical support and leadership within your level of competence.

The role includes undertaking a master’s in advanced clinical Practice, completing a local portfolio of competence, and contributing to service development and quality improvement.

As we operate a 7-day service, you will be required to work a variety of shifts covering a 7-day rota across all areas within the Emergency Division.

Upon successful completion of the master’s programme and achievement of the local AP portfolio of competence, you will progress to a Band 8a Advanced Practitioner role within the Emergency Department.
