Main duties of the job

Here on Bramshaw Ward, we are thrilled to be able to offer a Band 5 staff nurse position to success candidates. We will consider full-time and part-time applications, permanent and secondment.
Based at the Princess Anne Hospital, we have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 staff nurse to develop their acute clinical skills. We embrace innovative thinking here on Bramshaw ward and are looking for motivated, enthusiastic individuals to come and work with our friendly and supportive team. We are an 18-bedded ward, also acting as an emergency admission area out-of-hours for many patients with varying presentations. This includes all areas of gynaecology and early pregnancy (up to 20 weeks gestation).
The Princess Anne Hospital has 4 theatres; undertaking obstetrics, gynaecology and breast surgery - Bramshaw ward is also in charge of providing the best care for these patients after their procedure. We work very closely with our neighbouring departments and colleagues - including early pregnancy unit, theatres, day gynae unit and other services to offer optimum care and support for elective and emergency patients.

Qualifications, knowledge and experience
Essential criteria
- Qualified Nurse (Degree/Diploma)
- Registered nurse on appropriate part of the register
- Knowledge of current issues within acute Health Service
- Understanding of personal accountability
- Knowledge of own role within the team
- Provide evidence of teaching and supporting learners in practice in the role of practice supervisor
- Awareness of evidence-based practice
- Awareness of responsibilities for management of infection control
- Evidence of on-going personal development
- Able to use initiative
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of recent study
- Previous experience/qualification in relevant specialty
- Teaching experience
