  • Primary and secondary mental health care for children and adults, including specialist inpatient child and adolescent mental health provision, perinatal mental health, and forensic services with low and medium secure care.

  • Extensive community physical health and well-being services for children and adults, covering prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and long-term condition management.

The Trust was first established in 2002 and employs approximately 7,500 staff who provide care from more than 400 sites. An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit five energetic, compassionate, caring and flexible individuals to join our 136 Suite/Place of Safety team at The Harbour in the role of a Band 3 Health Care Support Worker.


Our team looks forward to welcoming confident, approachable and empathetic individuals who are able to demonstrate compassion and understanding towards people who are in a challenging phase of their journey, and who are willing to support and assist them towards their recovery. 


You must be a good team player with an ability to manage their time effectively. You will need to be a good communicator, who is able to demonstrate empathy, be non-judgemental, self-motivated and committed to delivering high quality patient care.  You will need to demonstrate good verbal and non-verbal communication and show evidence of good listening skills, demonstrating patience and willing to spend time with service users to discuss their care and assist them with their daily needs.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

The Post Holder will, under supervision and at the direction of a 1st level Registered Nurse, work to maintain individuality of service users by assisting in tasks to meet the individual patient needs as determined by the Nursing Team.  Maintain an adequate provision of flat linen, window and door curtains and be responsible for the cleanliness of these.  Monitor fitness for general purpose of ward environment and ensure regulations are followed to comply with the environmental audit works issues.  Monitor food and diet to service users. Liaise with contractors and support service departments.  

The post holder will be responsible for the co ordination of all patient and staff facilities within the ward environment, ensuring a clean, safe and comfortable environment

•    To establish a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere and environment for patients, visitors and staff.

•    To assist in monitoring and maintaining cleaning standards on the ward, highlighting any decencies of service in particular toilet/bathing areas.

•    To ensure spillage’s (non clinical) are dealt with swiftly and efficiently.

•    To undertake regular monitoring of current and outstanding estates issues, including reporting of work to be undertaken and ensuring follow up in line with the agreed procedure.

•    To liaise with staff, following discharge of a patient, the bed area is cleaned in preparation for new patient.

  • Or an Interest in completing the above training or can demonstrate the equivalent skills and knowledge gained through work (paid/unpaid)

Knowledge

  • Demonstrates an understanding of the issues surrounding mental illness.
  • Understands their duties and responsibilities under the Data Protection Act with regard to patient confidentiality.

Experience

  • Working as part of a team
  • Up to date or working knowledge of de- escalation techniques, Control and restraint and Management of Violence and Aggression (MOVA)
