Job overview

We are looking for an experienced and passionate midwife to undertake the role of Antenatal and Newborn (ANNB) Screening Lead and  Fetal Medicine at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. 

This is an excellent opportunity for a talented individual with inspirational leadership skills and an appetite for developing staff, improving the service and ensuring the delivery of safe and excellent maternity care. 

The post holder will be an excellent communicator with good interpersonal skills committed to managing:

  • The implementation of the national screening programmes as well as providing clinical support to service users. This will involve working alongside a team of four Band 7 midwives and a Band 4 failsafe officer.
  • The fetal medicine service based on our two maternity sites with a team of five midwives and three maternity support workers. 

You will work in collaboration with a dynamic team of Senior Midwives including matrons, consultants, midwives, Heads of Midwifery, and business partners to shape our maternity service.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will provide clinical expertise; professional direction and leadership to the screening coordinators, midwives and Maternity Support Workers within Maternity Services. 
  • They will be responsible for providing specialist advice and support to the clinical teams so that maternal and fetal screening pathways and systems are in line with the National Screening Committee (NSC) standards. 
  • They will action, implement and monitor the quality assurance of all the Screening Programmes ensuring that appropriate failsafe systems are in place, confirming, that all population screening is undertaken to the highest standard. They will provide regular formal updates on the performance of the Screening Programmes to the screening commissioners at NHS England and the Regional Quality Assurance team within the NSCA. 
  • Key area of responsibility will relate to monitoring and reporting on clinical incidents as part of the Clinical Governance agenda and responding to verbal and formal complaints in line with The Trust Complaints Procedure.

  • Practising Registered Midwife with relevant post registration experience
  • Educated to degree level and ability to work to Masters level
  • Teaching/mentorship qualification
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development

Experience

  • Experience in all areas of midwifery
