Looked After Children's Nurse

West London NHS Trust provides a full range of mental health, community and physical healthcare services for children, adults and older people living in the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow.
We also provide some specialist services that are commissioned regionally, such as our medium secure services; and nationally, such as the Cassel Hospital for people with complex and severe personality disorder and our high secure services at Broadmoor Hospital.

Thank you for your interest in the Specialist Children Looked After Nurse role within the Children Looked After Service. The role of Specialist Children Looked After Nurse will be based at Heart of Hounslow Centre for Health, 92 Bath Road , Hounslow TW3 3EL. The service provides care to children and young people who are looked after by the local authority from 0-17 years. The cohort is highly vulnerable and presents with complex safeguarding needs.
The role will provide clinics predominantly at Heart of Hounslow Centre for Health and some further outreach and health promotion work within the community. Applicants will be required to have availability to work a minimum of two days per week, dependent on service requirements. Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm, although flexibility will be required to work occasional later sessions to meet service delivery needs.
The role will suit a Registered Nurse with current NMC registration; a qualified Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visitor or School Nurse), an experienced Children Looked After Nurse or a Specialist Safeguarding Nurse with experience of working with children and young people.
We are keen to support areas of personal interest within the service, e.g., trauma-informed care and safeguarding. We also offer opportunities to develop leadership and management skills.

This demanding and rewarding specialist position requires a practitioner with excellent professional skills, sound clinical judgement, and a strong commitment to safeguarding children and young people.
You will work collaboratively with social care, education, health professionals, carers, and other partner agencies to deliver effective, child-centred care and improve outcomes for children looked after. We have close links with our colleagues in Community Paediatrics, specialties and therapy services both within the local hospitals and in the community. You will be an excellent communicator, motivated, adaptable, and committed to delivering high-quality, child-centred care.
