Health Centre Clinical Lead

The role

Most nursing careers ask you to choose. Variety or continuity. Impact or relationship. A role that stretches you clinically, or one where you truly know the people in your care. At Uppingham, you don't have to choose.

We are a warm, close-knit boarding school community of approx. 800 pupils aged 11 to 18, and we are looking for an exceptional nurse leader to lead the Woodfield Health Centre. Here, you will triage and treat, plan and prevent, lead and develop, across the full breadth of adolescent health. And you will do it for the same young people, year after year, watching them grow and knowing that your care has made a genuine difference to who they become.

This is also a role with real strategic influence. As a newly restructured position, the Clinical Lead will shape the future direction of healthcare at Uppingham, leading on clinical governance, service development and the professional growth of a dedicated nursing team. You will work closely with senior leaders, pastoral staff and external healthcare providers, backed by a school that places the wellbeing of its community at the very heart of everything it does.

About you

You’ll be a Registered Nurse with significant clinical leadership experience and a strong commitment to safeguarding and child welfare. You bring calm authority, sound clinical judgement, and the warmth and interpersonal skills to build trusted relationships across a diverse school community. Experience in a school or residential setting is an advantage, though not essential. What matters most is your values, your vision, and your genuine desire to lead a service that makes a lasting difference.

What we offer:

When you join us, you become part of a community that appreciates and supports its team members. You will enjoy a range of benefits that reflects our appreciation:

  • Free Westfield Healthcare
  •  Free membership of dual-use Sports Centre (£25 annual joining fee)
  • Free staff lunches in term-time
  • School fee discount for children of Uppingham staff (pro-rated for part-time staff)
  • Retail, gym, supermarket, cinema and restaurant discounts
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Occupational Health Services
  • Free annual flu jabs
  • Recognised as a “Disability Confident” employer
  • Recognised as a “Mindful” employer
  • Favourable rates and terms with local nursery
  • Complimentary staff ticket to selected School performances
  • Discount at local coffee shop for Uppingham staff
