Job overview

We are seeking an exceptional and experienced nurse leader to join our Women's Health leadership team as Specialist Gynaecology Matron.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, forward-thinking individual with a passion for delivering outstanding patient care, leading high-performing teams, and driving strategic service development across gynaecology services.

As the professional nursing leader for the service, you will provide visible, compassionate and inspirational leadership across a diverse portfolio including inpatient and outpatient gynaecology, emergency gynaecology, early pregnancy service, HIV, Sexual Helth and Sub-fertility. You will work closely with clinical, operational and corporate colleagues to ensure the delivery of safe, effective and patient-centred care whilst supporting the Trust's strategic objectives.

We are looking for a motivated leader with a strong track record of operational management, quality improvement, workforce development and service transformation. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, the ability to influence at all levels, and a commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and excellence.

You will be responsible for driving clinical quality, patient safety and governance standards, whilst empowering and developing multidisciplinary teams to deliver the highest standards of care.

Main duties of the job

·       Act as a role model for compassionate and inclusive leadership and take personal responsibility for obtaining feedback on self and ensuring all managers and staff within the directorate are trained in EDI.

·       The post holder is expected to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with other staff members characterised by trust, mutual respect, and open, honest communication.

·       Ensure that there is a specific commitment to deliver equality and inclusiveness in all aspects of Service line activity including service provision and recruitment, development and management of staff.

·       To provide expert nursing/midwifery and managerial resource to staff in designated service line.

·       Responsible for the development of an open and engaging culture for staff, accelerating inclusivity / allyship and promoting a patient-centred and culturally sensitive approach to the delivery of patient care.

Working for our organisation

We’re an organisation that is getting better and better and our improvements are driven by a determination to deliver care we’re proud of and our patients are happy with.

They are benefitting from a new electronic patient record (we were the last acute trust in London to introduce one) and our maternity services have been rated good by the Care Quality Commission.

We operate from two main sites – KGH in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford. We have two busy emergency departments with more than 346,000 people visiting them last year. We’re campaigning to secure the £35m we need to transform the A&E at Queen’s and get rid of corridor care.

We’re proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre, Radiotherapy Centre and Hyper Acute Stroke Unit. We’re also part of the North East London Cancer Alliance.

We run a Women’s Health Hub in Ilford; an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital and at St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub. These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The majority of our 8,400 staff – who come from 146 different countries - live in the three diverse London boroughs we serve and are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. Many can work flexibly and more than 400 of them are on our Ofsted accredited apprenticeship programmes. We’re proud to be a London Living Wage employer.
