Job Title: Staff Nurse- Cancer Care

Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team on the specialist clinical oncology ward of C4.
In this role, you will contribute to the provision and monitoring of high-quality individualised nursing care in accordance with agreed policies and procedures for patients with a diagnosis of cancer. In your role you will provide a high standard of care for patients by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluation care for individual patients. Carry out all aspect of nursing care treatments and procedures within agreed policies and procedures.
Undertake specific cancer care competencies including the administration of SACT, PCA/epidural care, and the care of patients receiving specialised radiation treatments.
You will act as a role model to other staff, encouraging effective working relationships and the development of a cohesive nursing team.

In this role, your key responsibilities will include:
As well as being a Registered Nurse on the NMC register you will need to be able to show experience of working in an acute care setting and an understanding of current acute health service issues.
Other experience/skills needed:
Assessed as competent in administration of intravenous medications is desirable.
Extended Clinical skills eg venesection/cannulation/ SACT administration/ epidural, PCA competency is desirable.
Ability to lead, motivate, delegate and to be a team player is essential.

Qualifications, knowledge and experience
Essential criteria
- Qualified Nurse (Degree/Diploma)
- Registered nurse on appropriate part of the register
- Knowledge of current issues within acute Health Service
- Understanding of personal accountability
- Knowledge of own role within the team
- Provide evidence of teaching and supporting learners in practice in the role of practice supervisor
- Awareness of evidence-based practice
- Awareness of responsibilities for management of infection control
- Evidence of on-going personal development
- Able to use initiative
