Community Team Leader - Homebirth Team

Department: Maternity Services

Band 7, £49,387 - £56,515 Per annum pro rata

Hours: Full time, 37.5 per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated midwife to develop and lead a dedicated Homebirth Team.
This role offers the opportunity to combine clinical expertise with operational and professional leadership, supporting a team dedicated to delivering safe, personalised and woman-centred care across community settings. You will provide visible leadership and professional support to the Homebirth Team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care in line with national guidance, local policies and the Trust's strategic objectives.
Working closely with community and maternity colleagues, you will champion continuity of care, promote informed choice and support women and families who choose homebirth as part of their maternity journey. You will play a key role in service development, quality improvement, staff wellbeing and the ongoing development of a positive team culture.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

NHS Staff Survey: 94% feel that their role makes a difference. 

Demonstrate a commitment to ensuring that the needs of women/birthing people and their families are placed at the centre of care delivery with the aim of providing high quality, safe and effective care with a positive patient experience in line with the trust values.

Ensure that women/birthing people and their families are involved in the planning and delivery of their care.

Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the multi-disciplinary team, allied groups within the acute Trust and Community Health, public and voluntary sectors

Work in partnership with the senior maternity management team, leading on the delivery of high-quality care.

Qualifications and knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Registered Midwife
  • Evidence of undertaking a Mentorship Course of equivalent
  • Evidence of continued professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Degree
  • Evidence of undertaking a Leadership Course or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of midwifery practice in a variety of settings within the clinical area
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in a Continuity of Carer model

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Skilled competent practitioner with an awareness of current midwifery practice and the ability to interpret and effectively use evidence to support clinical practice
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Organisation and prioritization skills
