Job overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced nurse to join our team as a Colorectal Cancer Surveillance Nurse. This is a senior clinical role, ideal for a nurse with a passion for cancer care and a strong background in colorectal nursing. You will play a critical role in the delivery of safe, effective, and personalised surveillance for patients following treatment for colorectal cancer. 

Based within a busy Hospital, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team including colorectal surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, and cancer support services. Your role will centre around nurse-led surveillance clinics, managing follow-up care for patients.

Main duties of the job

·      The post holder will be supported by consultant medical staff colleagues in a Key Clinical Role as an autonomous Specialist Practitioner expert in colorectal/anal cancer conditions.

·       Managing and taking responsibility of this cohort of patients from areas of GP’s, post-surgical and non-surgical intervention through their cancer follow up pathway.

·       Exercise and demonstrate advanced levels of clinical judgement, clinical decision making and discretion.

·       The post holder will utilise their sound education / training, expert knowledge and skills to provide an effective, seamless and high-quality surveillance service that meets the needs of post treatment colorectal cancer patients. 

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications/Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • NMC Registered
  • Post graduate study at degree level
  • Teaching, assessing & supervision diploma module or equivalent
  • Evidence of post graduate diploma qualification or module achievement in Leadership
  • Masters level education / or equivalent level of working knowledge and training
Desirable criteria
  • Oncology qualification
  • Counselling module
  • Band 6 experience level within colorectal service

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant post registration experience with additional experience within colorectal speciality.
  • Demonstrate teaching skills and experience.
  • Experience of working effectively as part of a team.
