Job overview

This post is a unique role to BCUHB and will require robust collaboration between the BCUHB Perinatal Mental Health Service and Seren Lodge, a mental health Mother and Baby Unit situated on the Countess of Chester Hospital site. 

The post is a split role with half time dedicated to providing in-reach and outreach support to women residing in North Wales who are admitted to Seren Lodge MBU and their families and half time dedicated to providing an enhanced triage role within the BCUHB Perinatal Mental Health Service.  In order to provide an enhanced triage role, the post holder will be required to support the daily triage practitioner to undertake the triage role which will include attending duty and HTT assessments as required as well as to provide interim care co-ordination for up to 28 days for women from North Wales who have been discharged back to the care of their locality Perinatal Mental Health Service whom are awaiting allocation of a care co-ordinator within their locality CMHT.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to care co-ordinate any women who are admitted to in-patient Mother and Baby Unit settings in the first 28 days post discharge from the MBU when a care co-ordinator has not already been allocated within the locality CMHT.

The post holder will be required to provide assertive in-reach and out-reach support to all women under the care of the perinatal service who are admitted to Mother and baby Unit’s in the North West area and to women under the care of the service who are admitted to locality acute mental health wards across BCUHB.

The post holder will provide in-reach and out-reach support for any women under the care of Perinatal Mental Health Service who are admitted to Mother and Baby Unit’s in the North West area for the duration of their admission and will provide the link with the respective Health Board’s outside of BCUHB.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • RMN and registered with the NMC
  • Post graduate diploma level training or specialist training relating to perinatal mental health / acute mental health care
Desirable criteria
  • Equivalent experience relevant to the role Specialist training relating to perinatal mental health. Knowledge of childhood development

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Robust risk assessment, planning and risk management skills
  • Ability to offer evidence based therapeutic interventions relating to perinatal mental health / adult mental health
  • Experience of working in a community mental health team setting
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to speak and understand Welsh

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Robust understanding and experience of multi-disciplinary team working
  • Ability to contribute to service development and improvement initiatives.
Desirable criteria
  • Past experience of working in a Perinatal Mental Health Setting (community or MBU based services)
  • Past experience of working in a crisis service / front line mental health service e.g. Home Treatment Team, Psychiatric Liaison etc
  • Past experience of liaison with in-patient units including in-reach and out-reach processes
