Job overview
The Community Paediatric service identify, assess, diagnose and manage the health needs of children and young people aged 0-18 years. The Neurodevelopmental Nurses form a valuable part of this team working in partnership with their Community Paediatric colleagues.
You will be leading in the assessment of neurodevelopmental conditions, predominately Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). In addition, this includes medication management of ADHD and sleep difficulties within neurodiversity.
The focus of the work will be working autonomously within a range of outpatient settings across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG).
The base for these job roles will be at various locations across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
Main duties of the job
Work in line with the assessment and management pathways for children and young people with neurodevelopmental difficulties.
Demonstrate leadership skills, identifying, auditing and developing the service according to need.
Demonstrate a high level of clinical judgement, including being an independent prescriber, working within NICE guidelines
Have a commitment to an integrated approach with the child and family at the centre, working in close collaboration with other services
Ability to work independently, managing own caseload, whilst remaining accountable to the Community Paediatric team
Ability to teach, train and supervise colleagues, other professionals or students.

Essential criteria
- Knowledge and clinical experience in ADHD and ASD
- Knowledge of child development
- Ability to work autonomously and manage own workload effectively
- Leadership and mentoring skills
- Experience of management of medication
Desirable criteria
- Experience relating ADHD and Autistic Spectrum disorder management or diagnostic assessments
- Experience relating to Child Mental Health
- Knowledge and understanding of family and multi-agency dynamics
