Job overview
We are looking for a compassionate, skilled and values driven Single Point of Access Practitioner (Band 6) to join our Child and Adolescent Mental health Early Intervention team.
In this role you will play a key part in screening, triaging and assessing referrals, ensuring children, young people and families receive the right support at the right time. The role is informed by the values and principles of the NYTH framework NEST framework (mental health and wellbeing): introduction | GOV.WALES and applies a trauma informed approach in all aspects of its work.
We offer regular supervision, professional development opportunities (such as the Trauma Informed Schools and Communities Diploma) and the chance to be part of a supportive and forward-thinking team.
Welsh language skills are desirable for this post.

Main duties of the job
To work in line with the legislation set out by the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010.
To participate in maintaining and facilitating the CAMHS Single Point of Access.
To screen, triage and assess referrals, ensuring children, young people and families receive the right support at the right time.
To provide direct and indirect work for children / young people with severe mental health disorders.
To provide risk assessment of a range of potentially harmful behaviours and factors related to mental health disorders or deliberate self-harm
To promote effective working relationships within the multi-disciplinary team by working collaboratively and jointly with other team members and professionals from other agencies
To provide advice, consultation and guidance for support staff in school and community settings where appropriate.
To participate in clinical discussion and case review with colleagues
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential criteria
- Relevant professional Qualification and Registration
- Eligible to practice under the mental health measure Wales 2010. This includes registered mental health nurses, social workers, occupational therapist, practising psychologist.
- Post grad diploma or relevant knowledge, training and experience in the specialist field acquired through specialist training and on the job experience
- Excellent knowledge of mental health problems and disorders
- Relevant post registration experience of working with children, young people and families in a health or social care environment or mental health setting
- Able to carry out mental health assessments autonomously through appropriate questioning, observations and accurate recording
- Able to relate well to other professionals
- Aware of professional issues Professionally accountable
Desirable criteria
- Understanding of service structures and inter-agency working
- Additional formal qualification in a recognised therapeutic approach
- Welsh speaker
