As the Community Deputy Lead Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing leadership for the operational delivery of community-based healthcare, leading a team of dedicated nurses, and working closely with local healthcare professionals to ensure the highest standard of care for patients. Your leadership and clinical expertise will be key to driving patient outcomes, supporting the team’s development, and enhancing service delivery.

- Assist the Community Health Services, Associate Director for Bedford Borough in the leadership, management and coordination of community nursing services, and deputising for the deputy therapy lead when required
- Build strong relationships with local healthcare providers, community organisations, and stakeholders to ensure integrated care delivery.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and support to a team of nurses, ensuring they are motivated and equipped to deliver excellent patient care
- Act as an escalation point of contact for patients and families, providing guidance and support as required
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Help maintain and improve clinical standards, ensuring that patients receive safe, effective, and compassionate care

Position: Community Deputy Lead Nurse, 0.5 wte (job share)
Location: Bedford Borough Locality, based between Twinwoods, Clapham and Steppingley Hospital site
Working Hours: 0.5 wte (18.75 hours per week)

About the Role:

Key Responsibilities:

You will need to have:
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a current NMC registration
- Significant experience in a community or similar healthcare setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- A genuine commitment to improving patient care within the community
- Proven experience in community nursing or in a similar healthcare management role.

- Educated to Master’s degree level or equivalent experience
- • Registered Nurse, Currently Registered with the NMC
Experience

- Significant experience of managing at least one Community Service i.e. specialist Nursing service Primary care at Home team services Lead/Head of Service, ideally across more than one community discipline and in more than one setting i.e. acute and community /Local authority services
- Experience of working at a senior level, and in conjunction with external stakeholders e.g. partners in primary care and local commissioners
- Experience of budget management and CIP delivery

- Ability to write clear and concise reports for discussion at senior level
