Job overview

This post is a Fixed term/Secondment until 01.10.2026 due to Secondment cover.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Team Manager within Flintshire Substance Misuse Services.  The successful applicant will be an integral member of the Senior Leadership Team.

We are looking for a highly experienced individual with the ability to act independently and on their own initiative who has a passion for driving improvements in the quality and safety of patient care.  

This role will be key in providing management, leadership, development and support of the Substance Misuse Team, working closely with the Clinical Operations Manager.

Significant budget management skills as well as excellent people and staff management are critical, including the ability to work within multi-disciplinary and multi-agency services and 3rd sector to drive improvements in patient care.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of the Flintshire Substance Misuse Service Team.

The post holder will ensure a high standard of care and treatment for patients and work with colleagues and other agencies to provide support which best meets a patients' needs.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Relevant professional Qualification and active professional registration in health or social care related profession.
  • Continued professional and management development
  • Relevant degree, or equivalent experience
  • Recognised and relevant management qualification (must be achieved 1-2 years)
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of mentoring
  • Assessment and/or teaching
  • Eligible to practice under the mental health measure Wales 2010 (includes mental health nursing, social work, psychology)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Management experience at band 6 or above.
  • Relevant clinical experience
  • Child Protection/Safeguarding training at level 3.
  • Service and/or policy development.

  • Working knowledge of Children’s Act and Safeguarding Procedures
