Come and join the Hartlepool Community Interface Team. The Team are looking for a Mental Health Nurse to join the team to aid our journey to change and improve the local community's experience with mental health services, adopting a "no wrong door approach".

We encourage discussions and we happy for potential staff to come along to visit, our base and discuss opportunities and get to know the MDT. Within this role we will support you to expand on your knowledge and expertise with opportunity to develop.

You will be a valued member of the team and will develop excellent working relationships with our partners and stakeholders. This innovative approach will provide opportunities for growth in your practice and professional development.

You can expect regular supervision and support from a very cohesive and supportive leadership team. 

 

Main duties of the job

As a member of the team, you will provide a service to those individuals who present with mental health issues, providing front line assessments and brief interventions with a focus on partnership working and signposting, the patient to the most relevant service to meet their needs.

You must be willing to work collaboratively with service users of varying ages and differing needs as well as their carers and families.

You will need to have significant experience of working with people with mental ill health in a care setting, delivering clinical interventions specific to care pathways.

You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You are required to have the ability and experience to manage complex cases in partnership with other agencies.

There is an expectation of commitment to the development of high-quality care, and to engage in quality improvement activities. You will be supported with regular management and clinical supervision. 

Due to the nature of the role, it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Current professional registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council RNMH or RNLD (RNSC – CAMHS only ) – RGN (If appropriate)
  • To be recognised practice assessor / mentor or work towards in an agreed timescale
  • Trained Clinical Supervisor (within 6 month probationary period)
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Working with people with mental ill health / learning disabilities
  • Working in a person centred therapeutic organisation
  • Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers
  • Working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Working in partnership with other agencies

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Evidence based knowledge of best practice in caring for patients in the designated field.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act)
  • Understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice
  • Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice
  • Clinical Governance and its application in practice
  • Confident working knowledge of clinical medicines management, including administration of injections
