The salary scale for a Band 3 has been adjusted as part of the NHS Agenda for Change pay award for 2026/2027 and will be implemented in August 2026 backdated to 01 April 2026 where applicable.

 

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals to undertake the role of Dementia Support Worker to join our dedicated nursing teams on  Ffynnon Ward A (Care of the Elderly ward) at Holywell Community Hospital.

The successful applicants must have excellent communication and organisational skills and have the ability to deliver the highest standards of care in a demanding environment. 

Main duties of the job

Holywell Community Hospital has an exciting opportunity within the Care of the Elderly team (Ffynnon Ward A), who are looking for a Band 3 dementia support worker. We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who has experience of dementia care and is keen to assist in developing the service for the future. This is a demanding role that requires commitment and a positive approach towards change. You will have excellent communication skills and high clinical standards with a passion to make a difference for patients and staff alike. 

This is an exciting opportunity to support Dementia patients during their stay in hospital. Applicants will need to be able to demonstrate care and compassion in providing support and care for patients with delirium. 

The successful applicant will be supported to develop skills and ensure care of a high standard is delivered. 

Full time position for 37.5 hours per week.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Experience

  • Working with people with dementia in a clinical setting
  • Has a positive attitude towards dementia care and those affected by dementia
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of supporting carers and families of people with dementia

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Able to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a stressful environment
Desirable criteria
  • Able to undertake education and basic teaching of staff members, patients and carers
