We are pleased to be able to offer an exciting opportunity for a band 7 Team Manager to join our expanding Scarborough and Ryedale Wellbeing in Mind Team.
The Wellbeing in Mind Team are MHSTs who work directly into education. This is in line with the government’s priority to increase access and availability of mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people within education settings.
The band 7 Team Manager provides operational leadership to the team.
The Scarborough and Ryedale Team work into a number of educational settings throughout Scarborough, Ryedale and surrounding areas. We have a base in Scarborough and a base in Malton and you will be expected to work in both.

Main duties of the job

Our Wellbeing in Mind team has 3 core functions:
- Support the development of a whole-school or college approach to wellbeing. This can include, but is not limited to, supporting sites to develop and implement mental health and wellbeing policies, development of resources, supporting campaigns and delivering training, assemblies and PHSE curriculum.
- Provide timely advice and consultation to education staff. This is designed to support teaching staff to build their skills and confidence in supporting the wellbeing needs of their students/pupils. This is offered in both a formal and informal way.
- Undertake direct assessments and intervention for young people within education. We offer a low intensity service model, predominantly using cognitive-behavioural therapy.
Each function accounts for a third of the team's workload.
The Team Manager must demonstrate the ability to manage their time, prioritising and managing competing demands. Relationships and the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of partners and stakeholders is vital to this role.
Working for our organisation
The post holder will form part of a locality wide leadership team along with the WiMT Clinical Leads. With support from the existing leadership team, the post holder will take a lead role in developing new processes and pathways. They will provide management supervision to their team and support the senior leadership team in reporting the work of the team and it's outcomes to a range of stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience of managing people
- Working collaboratively with others (external partners, staff service users and their families/carers)
- Evidence of delivering supervision
- Working knowledge of the legal framework and statutory obligations under the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and other relevant legislation
- Detailed understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice
- Risk assessment and management and its application in practice
- Working knowledge of clinical medicines management
- Developing, maintaining and auditing standards of practice
- Evidence of training in Quality Improvement methodology or coaching, and/or using.
- Inter-agency and partnership working
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience working with patients with complex needs in a specialist field
- Significant experience working with patients who display risk behaviours
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Current professional registration with appropriate body in healthcare or social work or relevant professional clinical qualification (ie PWP/CWP in IAPT/Getting Help services)
- Be Educated to Master’s level in leadership or a subject area relevant to the area of practice
- OR Have equivalent clinical experience to that of masters level such as working as a band 6 (or above) in relevant clinical area with significant experience – which also includes significant experience of managing people (see below under experience), together with evidence of CPD
- Be trained in Clinical Supervision and Providing Clinical Supervision
- Be a Recognised Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor
